Foundation board for base walls, block and concrete foundations, and underground construction projects.
The foundation board and its upper edge-mounted edge strip protect the building’s foundations from moisture. When installed correctly, the foundation board prevents external moisture from entering the base wall and directs rainwater away from the wall. The knobby surface facing the wall prevents moisture condensation in the base wall: moisture condenses on the surface of the foundation board and can drain down between the knobs. During construction, the air space left between the foundation board and the wall acts as ventilation.
When installed on a block foundation, 45 mm or 65 mm nail with a plug is used to secure the foundation board, and for concrete foundations, 30 mm staples are used. Similarly, the installation of a drainage board in an old house can be done with staples.
The foundation board is often referred to as a base wall board, drainage board, or knob board.
