Pipe production

MELTEX manufactures durable plastic pipes using extrusion at its factories in Jyväskylä and Kuhmoinen for various applications, such as rainwater, drainage, drinking water, and wastewater networks, as well as protective pipes for electrical and telecommunications cables. The diameters of the pipes we produce range from 20 millimeters to 900 millimeters.

In extrusion, plastic raw material is melted and shaped into the desired form. After that, the produced pipe is cooled and cut to the desired length on the production line. Necessary markings and seals are then added to the product before packaging.

Durable plastics refer to plastic types that can be recycled and reused. MELTEX uses three different types of durable plastics in pipe production: polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

Durable plastics have many advantageous properties, such as excellent chemical resistance. Plastic pipes are suitable for use in all kinds of conditions and soil types, as plastic does not oxidize or corrode. As a result, the lifespan of plastic pipes is over 100 years, making them a sustainable solution in terms of environmental impact. Additionally, plastic is a very lightweight material, which means that the emissions generated during the transportation of products are lower than those of pipes made from other materials.

We also continuously strive to reduce the environmental impact of our production by minimizing energy and raw material consumption, as well as waste generation. All waste generated in our production is recycled. Our products are also manufactured using renewable energy.
